You know it wouldn't surprise me if we'd get much more "affordable" replicas in the future.
If we look at rc a/c we've seen a shift towards electric and foam when it comes to relatively cheap yet realistic looking warbirds.
Future materials and powerplants will likely open up the possibility of recreating - at least on the outside, but built from plastics and carbon - many of the warbirds we love. Perhaps even coming close to their real performance figures. Electric powerplants, why not?
Ps. As long as we are dreaming, I'd start with a Fokker D.VII or Albatros D.V before looking at a WW2 warbird
