Re: Loss Do 217 Wnr 8389 Ln Versuchs Rgt on 29th January 1943

Thanks Matti for the identification of the specific Kompanie charged with the Unfall. At that time, 7.(Fliegerversuchs-)/Ln.-Versuchs-Rgt. Köthen would have been the Kompanie that took aloft new signals equipment that could only be tested and evaluated aboard an aircraft. It may also have been used to calibrate ground radar equipment and systems.

In addition to 6.(Flieger-) and 7.(Fliegerversuchs-), 2.(RV-)/Ln.-Versuchs-Rgt. based at Köthen also had a number of aircraft, including He 111 H-6s. This Kompanie experimented with and used Richtverbindungs equipment that was used for line-of-sight voice and teletype transmissions.

A very interesting Luftwaffe signals unit!
