Well Paul Don Minterne in his history of 73Sqn Don Minterne has the following:

"Ian Brotchie landed with splinters in his knee which were removed in the SSQ...Wee Brotch was expected to be non-eff for several days."

Don Minterne does not list a/c serials for 7 April 1940. In an appendix he lists Brotchie as "George Francis" and included that Brotchie was shot down on 10 April 1940; in his sqn diary in the main text he does not record ops or losses for 10 April.
