Re: Seeking photos of Black 13 of 2./JG3, the a/c of Oblt. Horst Tiedmann that FL intact near Maidstone, Kent, 18.8.40

Hello,

As an update to this post,

1) I've obtained copies of these photos and am now preparing to do a color profile of this a/c and write the history of the plane and pilot for the EoE Project. We have four reference photos from the starboard side of this a/c, plus an excellent description of it from the K-Report, but I have no photos of it from the port side. Are any known to exist? Neither Peter C. nor Andy S. have any.

2) Tiedmann, who died on 15.5.69, evaded capture after his shoot down for at least 12 hours. There is a good story there if details of it can be discovered. Did anyone ever interview him or correspond with him about the details of his evasion on the ground in Britain before his death? Is there any other source for this information? It was mentioned, but with no real details, in his obituary published in 1969 in an issue of "Jägerblatt."

Any help in expanding the info about this incident, or any port-side photos of this a/c would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Larry Hickey
