Re: Need help clearing the fate of Lw fighter pilots

Hi Dmitry

Hermann Gühl got around. He was born on 6th January 1912, seems very likely that he survived the war. A former test pilot he was the Staffelkapitän of 11./Jg26 from 19th December 1944 until 20th March 1945 when it dis-banded. The micro films in the earlier typed-out Staffel form exists for 1./Lg2, but there is nothing on it for him, he either had a few u/c claims or his earlier ones may very well be speculation, there are gaps in his career where I cannot account for him, but these are his claims:-

4th September 1939 1./LG 2 Ofw Pzl-24 Poczalkowo u/c
2nd June 1942 1./JG 77 Ofw U-2 u/c?
11th June 1942 1./JG 77 Ofw LaGG-3 u/c?
13th June 1942 1./JG 77 Ofw DB-3 Taman area u/c?
30th November 1943 11./JG 26 Stfw B-17 1155 hrs 8000 metres A.S.M
13th April 1944 11./JG 26 Stfw P-47 1320 hrs 4000-3500 metres v.n.e-a.s.m
1st May 1945 2./JG 26 Lt Spitfire north of Schwarzenbek 1050 hrs u/c.

Being optimistic I guess he could still be alive.

Hope this helps

Kind Regards

Johannes

P.S Am not at all sure about his 1./Jg77 claims!
