These men were from the 485th BG, 829th BS. They were shot down on a mission to Salonika on 24 Sept 44 to bomb the RR yards. The plane was B-24 42-78330, MACR 8951. The plane was hit while passing over the target.

The pilot, James Cameron apparently evaded capture while the rest of the crew were apparently captured. Cameron obtained this picture (probably with help or from the Greek underground) and turned it over to the 15th AF. It may have appeared in local newspapers. He identified the men in the photo.

All of the crew survived the war.

Jones was the RO.
Leon was the Top Turret Gunner.
Lyons was the Tail Gunner
Kingsberg was the Nose Gunner.
