Transport squadrons at Ilovskoye and Rossosh airfields

Hi all,

Does anyone know which specific Ju 52 transport units would have flown a pioneer battalion from Rossosh airfield and another pioneer battalion from Ilovskoye airfield (Nikolayevka) to Stalingrad on 4 November 1942? I'm pretty certain they would have belonged to Fiebig's VIII. Fliegerkorps. Gen.Oberst von Richthofen was responsible for getting these two pioneer battalions sent to Stalingrad and had a hand in organising the transport planes to move them.

A bit of research on the Net revealed that Ilovskoye airfield was predominantly used by Hungarian planes and was not home base for any German squadrons (I could be entirely wrong), so the Ju 52 units would have only been there for a short time.

On 30 October, Luftflotte 4 and Luftwaffe Kommando Don only had two transport squadrons between them: Kampfgruppe v.b.V. 76 (with 44 operational and 59 non-operational aircraft) and Kampfgruppe z.b.V. 100 (withh 7 and 13 respectively), so I presume it was one or both of these. Again, I coud be wrong.

I look forward to any help.

Best wishes,
Jason Mark
