Very informative, Richard - many details which should have belonged in Schmoll´s book. For instance, I didn´t know Hagelstadt("
Gauting") was producing Me 262 parts. Flossenbürg ("
Bürg") e.g. was preparing for Me 262 production.
Concerning the
Industriebahn at Berglern (in fact it reached until Pfrombach) was private property, but it used
Reichsbahn rail gauge and not narrow gauge(which is important imo). By this it was connected to the East-West-running main transportation channel I was describing.
In WW2 the
Industriebahn Pfrombach-Erding was used for daily transport of workers and personnel from the surrounding villages to Fliegerhorst Erding. This daily service was provided by the
Reichsbahn. This significates imo that the use of this private railway was part of the german war effort. The service ended on April 30th 1945, when the railway bridge at Aufkirchen (west from Erding) was blown up by retreating troops.

I´ll try to ask about damage to Erding during the last war days next weekend. Maybe I can get some helpful info.
One last question: The Berglern fuselages, did they receive some surface treatment or were those bare aluminum?

Roland
P.S: Do you know this photograph, taken after the attack on Fliegerhorst Erding?:
