Hello,
Re: 6th May, 1944. SS "CHRISTINA":
The month (May, 44'), continued with a strike against a 1,500 ton MV plus two escorts at the entrance to Sete harbour on the 6th when six RP Beaus of 39 Squadron plus six anti-flak (Beaufighters), of No.272 Squadron pressed home an accurate attack despite intense flak from the ships and shore installations. (The MV attacked was claimed as damaged).

The last anti-shipping attack made by the combined squadrons (39/272), took place on the 6th May (1944), when Squadron Leader Curlee led six of his squadron (No.39), and six of 272 Squadron against a merchant vessel of about 1,500 tons, escorted by two flak ships, at the entrance to Sete harbour. They were met with an intense barrage of light flak from the ships and the shore, but scored numerous hits on the vessel, which bore neutral markings. All aircraft returned safely.
