Rudolf Kneip of 3./JG 300

Hi Leutnant Rudolf Kneip made two claims with 3./JG 300 a B-17 on 4th March 1944 2km NE Kesseling at 1453 hrs 2500 metres, and another B-17 on 8th March 1944 30th South of Oldenburg at 1319 hrs 4500 metres. Only other information I have is that he was killed in combat with Allied aircraft on 15th March 1944, his Bf109 coming down in the region of Grunbach.

I can find no other information about him, however it's an unusual name and there was a Leutnant Kneip of 9./JG 3 who made claims as follows:-

12th September 1942 LaGG-3 5km North of Pitomnik 1410 hrs 1000 metres
23rd September 1942 Il-2 4km SE Utta 0456 hrs 50 metres
28th September 1942 Il-2 East of Stalingrad 1430 hrs 300 metres
16th December 1942 Il-2 4km West of Kotluban.

Again I have no date of Birth for either, and have no other information of this JG3 guy, no loss details or wounds, and was wondering if anybody might have any other information about the two........or are they one. No pilot just does nothing, if you can find no unit for them in my experience they are either hospitalized or instructing, it would make sense if the JG3 guy was Rudolf who did some instructing, then goes back to combat with JG 300.

Grateful for any feedback no matter how small on this matter.

Kind Regards

Johannes
