Re: Bf109 G.. = Werk:411683

Bookkeeping is everything.....always list your sources....:-))....checked it and I believe Kracker mixed up two losses. Actually the info in Jägerblatt 04/2003 and 05/2003 already says so.....Ok this is what I have;

26-11-1944, Bf 109G-14, WNr. 511683, 4./JG 27
Fj.Uffz. Wolfgang Schmidt, born 11.12.1924
EM 68416/630
Vermisst, Ort unbekannt (all data from VLM).

VDK-Datenbank (online) says that he is buried on Waldfriedhof Georgmarienhütte - Kloster Oesede, Grave 15. The tool does not list the place of death but that must be in the area (south of Osnabrück).

24-04-1945 Bf 109, Ofw. Schmidt, 2./JG 27 reported killed. I checked the KTB Lfl. 6 which was listed as source in Prien's work on I./JG 27 but I only could find data on the mission of that day and that there were JG 27 losses, no info on name. Other sources (old Ring/Girbig-list) indeed mentions an Ofw. Schmidt lost near Bad Aibling. I have no more info.

So, nothing to do with 411683....

Regards,

John
