Hello,
JFV T3, P74 says nothing but Prien writes Oblt. Erwin Mann made a Bauchlandung somewhere in (possibily) Belgium/France area because of the antenna shape in the background! (sic) ... Very clever! But no date ... And since the book starts (for JG3) from 10/5 and ends on 25/6 ... it's during this period; at least we can suppose.
Note 1: Prien writes Oblt. Erwin Mann in caption BUT in victory list he writes Lt. Gunter Mann!
Note 2: The photo depicts a plane which, obviously, received hits in fuselage.
Then ...
The Kracker list, is talking about an Oblt. Erwin Gunter Mann of 1./JG1 who made an emergency landing in FRANCE after a dog fight in GELBE 6 (Sic!) in APRIL 1940. All 3./JG1 markings were yellow outlined in black . The machine is White 6, no doubt.
So ...
Some kind of a mixture/confusion.
We can suppose it's effectively Erwin Mann, and that's all. Only the white number and the unit are 100% sure in fact.
Hence Larry's comment!
Regards, Franck.
