The photo identified in post #6 might possibly be a Bf 110, coded M8+Bx. If that were correct, then the Gruppe could be II./KG 76. The date on the back of the photo was 9 September 1940. Reviewing the sources I have for the losses prior to that date, M8+BM (W.Nr.3257) was shot down near Dover on 30 August 1940. That is quite a distance from London, but perhaps someone has better information on either that loss or perhaps yet another loss which better would fit the situation. I could be wrong on all counts, but details of the wreckage do suggest a Bf 110 and the "M" and "B" are quite clear on the image.
