Hello Ed,
Thank you again for all of your hard work in collecting these photos. Two photos in particular beg for comment:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=271602275189. These photos appeared in Jerry Crandall’s opus, “The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Dora,” Volume 1, pages 164-165. Jerry described it as Fw190D-9 12+ - white, possibly WNr. 600XX8, from II./JG2, and found abandoned at Babanhausen.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=271602273867. The remains of this aircraft were purportedly found at Halberstadt and, assuming that the stated partial Werknummer is correct, probably represents either Arado/War-built Fw190F-8 WNr. 582242 or Fi/Kassel-built Fw190A-8 WNr. 682242. To my aging eyes, however, it looks more like 68221X. Noteworthy too are its high-contrast upper wing camouflage pattern, and that its cowl gun troughs are apparently covered over.
