Re: B 26 Loss 13 March 1945

The MACR gives the "last seen" position as "12 MI S of Frankfurt at Langen", but in the MACR a post -war statement by Wallace P Dechaine, who was the co-pilot of the plane, says it crashed "Two miles from a small town located approx. 55 miles S.E. of Frankfurt on Main." Unfortunately he does not name the town.

You may be able to get an idea where the plane went down by requesting the IDPF files for the two men who were apparently in the plane when it crashed. They would have been buried near-by. The IDPF files should show where the bodies were first recovered.

2nd Lt Keith C Reed, Navigator O-2072287 (apparently refused to jump).
S/Sgt Benjamin J Anderson, Eng-Gunner, 37088900 (killed by flak).
