Hello,
On 22 October 1944 an Il-2 of 214 ShAP was shot down by Flak and the pilot force-landed on a frozen lake, identified as "Sennagressvatnet". This Il-2 has been raised, restored and is now on display at the Bordland museum in Kirkenes.
I have not been able to find the location of this lake. The link
http://ktsorens.tihlde.org/flyvrak/sennagress.html says it is in Finnmark, but given that the Il-2 was damaged near Elvenes, it probably then flew east and so fell in the area that is now Russia, so the lake might have been renamed.
During my search, I have found that the sennegrass or sennegress in Norwegian is the name of an Artic plant (
http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sennegras), so the name of the lake might have been "Sennegressvatnet", but I can't find it either.
Sorry: I posted it on the wrong forum, please move it to the Allied section.
