Hi Andy,

I don't think that he was an instructor as he flew always alone and during conversion first the Ar 96 and then the Bf 109 F/G and finally the K. The Fw 189 had first the code H1, then 5H, then N5. I couldn't find N5 in a LW code list. Perhaps that would help to identify another unit.

First flight with a H1 aircraft was on 4.3.41. First combat mission on 28.6.41.
