Re: Dornier Do17 shot down Stour river Ipswich 1941

Time of crash 0104 hours. Location Ness Point, Erwarton. I have a couple of MG 15 rounds from this aircraft. A "schoolboy" obtained a fistful of ammo and as it was the only enemy ammo he had in his collection, he put it in a tobacco tin and hid it in an earth bank when the Police started making serious inquiries into "liberated parts" which were missing. Unfortunately he was unable to relocate the tin and it was only in the 1980s when he had to clear a wasp's nest from the earth bank that the rusty tin surfaced again! Some of the ammo was on display at Flixton in 2003.
