A. Combat
B. 24 April 1945
C. 365th Fighter Squadron, 358th Fighter Group
D. 1455
E. Donauworth
F. Haze, 5,500 feet, top unknown. Visibility excellent.
G. Me 109's
H. One Me 109 Destroyed
I. I was leading Gatepost Red Flight on an Armed Reconnaissance Mission over Germany. After bombing the target and heading home a bogie was called in on the deck. I immediately bounced him from 5000 feet coming down and closing from behind. I fired from 300 yards dead astern and observed strikes on him. He continued on the deck going over hills and I closed to 100 yards of him, getting strikes on the enemy plane all the time. He then pulled up in a wing over and then crashed into the ground. After he did the wing over he was apparently out of control as he went straight in. The Me 109 broke up and exploded and was burning. I claim one Me 109 destroyed.
J. 2100 rounds.
