I agree with you regarding bogus stories , lots of Russian WWII claims seems to bear little or not at all credibility. An other similar top scorring Ace also from 176th GvIAP namely Evstigneev claimed a FW-200 near Kishinew early April 44, though I could not find it either nor the Soviets were willing to confirm his claim . Back in 1944 in an other friendly fire incident the Russians attacked a group of 15th AF P-38's which mistakenly straffed Sovit ground force, leading to the downing of 3 Soviet fighters and 2 P-38's .
