[Chris Goss]

Gilbert flew with KG 53 not KG 51. Joining in June 1941, he flew much of his time with II/KG 53 and after being shot down by Flak on 31 Jul 1943 spent the rest of the war with IV/KG 53 and then an instructor on a flying school in Denmark.
