This was a Lancaster that some say ditched and others say crashed off Felixstowe on 25.08.1944. All the crew were killed, which to me suggests that a crash is better description.
Incidentally how do you know it was just flying on one engine?
If so the only way was down even if everything was thrown out to reduce weight. I suspect the pilot was trying to get a close to shore as possible but the death of all suggests something stopped the pilot from doing a proper ditch.
