The following is an extract from Wolfgand Roos' Flugbuch , made c.ten years' ago when I was loaned the FB . I believe that I scanned the whole book - but my 'infallible' filing system is currently misbehaving! I'll let you know if it emerges into daylight.
Wolfgang Roos made a total of 177 flights, of which 126 were war flights - all of them, it seems, in Russia. He made his first war (I believe) flight on 14 Feb. 1943, in a Fw.189 coded GJ+RS (don't know this unit !). He made eight war flights in total (2 x GJ+RS; 5 x KH+GU: 1 x KH+GZ - don't know which units!) before being assigned to
1./Aufklärungsgruppe 31. He flew his first war flight with that unit on 8 April 1943 (in 5D+AH) The rest of his service was spent with this unit - and always in an Fw.189. His last flight (No.177) recorded in his Flugbuch was in 5D+JH on 9 March 1944. It was not a war flight.
To complicate matters slightly. An email correspondent that I was in touch with at the time (and whose details are with the FB!) claimed that Roos was attached to FFS A43, a flying school located at Crailsheim. When he crashed, Roos was flying an Italian Saiman 202 / wnr 51534 code unknown.
