Have used Google translate on a few bits.
The comprehensive documentation consists of the following things:
1 Portrait photo 17x23,5cm
1 review Write a note Proposal: Group commander
1 pilot's license for private pilots from 1957
1 release certificate from 1949 from captivity
1 report on the plane crash with He111
1 letter Legion Condor
1 group photo training
1 Season's Greetings for Christmas 1942
1 poem of the season to your boss
154 'letters and postcards Poland, Germany France, Russia, with detailed reports on the inserts.
Of the 154 letters are 21 of the Spanish Civil War
I'm interested in the " release certificate from 1949 from captivity " How did Knauth become a POW in Spain ? I'm aware POW's in the UK did not return home for a few years after the war , but was Spain more sympathetic to German POW's and why 4 years after he obviously helped General Franco. I have a DoD as 1974 in Madrid.
