Re: Ansbach, May 1945

Dear Mihal,

relating to JG7, KG51 and KG(J)54 it is well known, that the last intact Me262īs stationed at Prague-Ruzyne and then Zatec (Saaz) left for Fassberg (the "Fassberg fives"), Munich-Riem, Lechfeld and Dedelstorf. Other jet pilots took a ride with any other flyable prop-planes (Fi 156, Me108..) to the American occupied zone or headed to the American lines near Eger using vehicles (Kettenkrad, trucks...) to prevent Russian captivity. There are many individual stories. One pilot I know even got a ride home by the Americans just back to the Rhine near Karlsruhe. They even warned him from the French, who looked for cheap mine workers.

As I am very interested in the last days of the jet units I would be glad to get the police reports of the Prague-Ruzyne jet activities against the Wlassow army

Best wishes, Karl
