You do know Paul that the German engines were operating at a higher compression ratio than the Merlin.
DB605 7.5/7.3:1 with B4 fuel; 8.5/8.3:1 with C3 fuel
Merlins 6:1
Late model Bf109s were running 1.8ata boost and some even 1.98ata boost.
