Re: Ju88 P-1 Insignia
Urbanke's research expands my work done in 2003:
Einsatzkommando Ju 88 (Pz.)
Formation and History. (Aug 43 - Oct 43)
Said to have been formed in August 1943, probably at Rechlin, as an operational test unit for the Ju 88P-1 equipped with the 75mm PaK 40L anti-tank gun, then moved to Flensburg shortly after formation. Nothing further is known about the unit, but the equipment (Ju 88P-1) and the location (Flensburg) provide a direct link to III./KG 1, which transferred from Seshchinskaya on the central sector of the Eastern Front to Flensburg without aircraft on 12 August 1943 to convert to Ju 88P-1s, although this project was cancelled in October before it could get off the ground.
