An unrelated loss I believe. Still awaiting clarification from Robert on the 1.(F)/120 casualty on the previous day.
4 November 1940 1.(F)/120 Junkers Ju88A-5 (0475). Aborted sortie to northern Scotland due to engine failure and crashed in the North Sea 50 miles west of Utsira during return flight 11.07 a.m. FF Fw Helmut Hörning, BO Oberlt Horst Hesse, BS Gefr Johann Wülbeck, and BF Uffz Werner Kriegel all missing. Aircraft 100% write-off.
No trace was found despite extensive search of the area throughout the afternoon by two He59 of Seenotflugkdo.5 from Stavanger supported by five Do17 and three He111.
