Sep 44: according to a P/W, only two Staffeln remained at this time; replacement pilots were generally there for about a month and flew around 10 hours of practice take-offs, short navigational flights and landings. Rumors were rampant that the Gruppe was to be disbanded. (ADI(K) 626/44)
8 Jan 45: renamed I.(Nah-)/Erg.Aufkl.Geschw. 1. (KTB Gen.d.Aufklärungsflieger in: BA-MA RL 4 II/32).
I.(Nah-)/Erg.Aufklärungsgeschwader 1
Jan 45: now at Kölleda - shortly after formation the Gruppe is known to have assembled an Einsatzstaffel/Erg.Aufkl.Geschw. 1 for use at the front under Luftflotte 6, but little is known about it aside from two losses charged to the Einsatzstaffel, the first a Fi 156 on 24.01.45 and the second a Bf 109 G-8 shot down by ground fire on 05.02.45. No location was given for either loss, but presumably these were over the battle front to the east of the Oder.
