Re: Help identifing a Luftwaffe bomber unit

Hi oquaig

Sorry I did not get a chance to post before today but here are scans of a Flugbuch from a man who flew in a Heinkel 111 coded 1T+IK against Middlesborough and Sunderland in October 1940. As you can see on the pages I labelled 6a and 6b, he has conveniently headed the 'kilometer' column in pencil with '2.KG126'. As the gentlemen suggest, this is 2. Staffel, Kampfgruppe 126, which is a unit that specialised in dropping sea mines. The entries in the remarks column read '2 LM.' for 2 Luftminen (air mines). At this time the unit was flying out of Wittmundhafen in northwest Germany.

I include pages 7a and 7b just for completeness, as he has shown the full code 1T+IK here.

If you have any details on this aircraft or unit, I would be interested to hear them.
