Re: HE 111 5J+CN W.nr.1526 info
This Heinkel 111 P airplane was possibly produced in late 1938 or early 1939, before the "later" Stammkennung was started to be issued, but possibly it had ferry registration (Dornier Wismar factory ferry code) that had first been used in some factories already from 1937. The later Stammkennung (Sicherung-kennzeichen) was fixed for the aircraft, but the factory ferry code (1937 - 1941) was re-usable, and this can cause errors for often there appear many useages of same code, especially amongst trainers (and Ju 86´s trainers) but most often this is writing errors - especially in pilots logbooks - and some have lots whilst others are near perfect.
Combined with faulty research, and faulty useage of faulty research, has created much confusion in this arena - and to name one listing in particular - the one created by the L(E)MB group - it suffered (in just my opinion) from bad editing practices, as well as stating many codes for same W.Nr. (no general editing ?) and the Fw 200 had examples of many faulty entries. This basically was amalgam of multible sources and often this had incorrect sources attributed.
But to answer this particlar aircraft, it had other code before, a pre war Luftwaffe unit code:
1526 He 111 P-1 33+C25 5./KG 253 (Luftwaffe)
[1939]
- He 111 P-1 5J+CN 5./KG 4 (Based at Fornebu)
OPS (F) shot down by two RN/FAA Skuas "7A" and "7C" of 801 Squadron (off HMS ARK ROYAL) over Andalsnes and Lesjaskov, Northern-Norway 26.04.1940 (F Obfw. Günther Hölscher and two more POW, one killed) - Was recovered by RNoAF SeaKing helicopters and restored to static condition by the RNoAF at Gardermoen from 1976 - Complete by 1985 - Flygvapnets Museum Gardermoen (fm 1985 to current times)
