Re: Searching for info/photos on 2 x recon Do17P-1 lost during Phoney War on 2 March 1940
Bertrand,
There were three recon Do17Ps lost on 2 March. I already have good photos of one of them, 4N+KH of 1.(F)/22, which is why I didn't list it on my TOCH info request. The codes on both sides are quite clear. However, I have the same crew as you cited, but a different crash location. It may be that we have the crash locations of these two confused in our DB.
Here is what we carry for the Barchfeld crash:
"2 March 1940: 1.(F)/22 Dornier Do17P-1. Engaged by S/Lt Martin and Adj Le Gloan of GC III/6 during photo-reconnaissance sortie between Achen and Wingen 10.30 a.m. and brought down at Ferme Sainte-Marie, south-east of Bouzonville, France. (FF) Lt Karl-Wilhelm Barchfeld, (BO) Fw Wilhelm Will, and (BF) Obergefr Franz Jabubeck captured. Aircraft 4N+KH a 100% write-off.”
It would appear that my request for the 4.(F)/11 aircraft may be down at the wrong location, but otherwise the info may be accurate?
This needs sorting out.
