Re: Heinkel loss at 11th September 1940

Stab KG1 Heinkel He111H-3 (5606). One engine disabled by AA fire over London during sortie to bomb Commercial Docks, other engine disabled by fighter attacks over the coast. Believed that shot down by Pilot Officer A. B. Watkinson and Pilot Officer C. A. W. Bodie of No. 66 Squadron. Probably also that attacked by Flight Lieutenant J. C. Freeborn of No. 74 Squadron. Forced-landed on Broomhill Farm, Camber 4.30 p.m. and set alight by crew. Lt Otto Behn and Fw Johannes Sommer captured unhurt. Uffz Paul Moeck, Uffz Gerhard Arndt, and Gefr Martin Männich captured wounded. Aircraft V4+FA a write-off.
