Walter ones were rocket, as Starthilfe ("Take off helper") they tested winch launches. ATM I can not find photos of them. They were either Petrol or Diesel powered.
Most gliding fields have winch launches as standard, and I have several hundred under my belt (btw on german built gliders, including Grunau Baby, post war built tho).
Yay... technically flown a Warbird!
