In microfilm reel A 5686 of AFHRA at page 680 the a/c's serial/# is mentioned in the respective line:
SAL NBD B 2 AIR DEPOT GP P47D 42 28461 9 24025 2402
By my understanding I read, that the a/c P-47D AAF/sn 42-28461 was salvaged non-battle-damaged status by the date of 24th February 1945. The holder of the a/c this date was 2nd Air Depot Group and
not 404th FG, 507th FS. This is some kind of exceptional, since most of those lines list as a/c holder the corresponding Fighter Group.
On my opinion, this a/c made a belly-landing inside the American lines prior Feb. 24th, 1945. The a/c was photographed and snapshooted by U.S. soldiers.
Whilst not serious damage was visible, the local American leader reported the incident
to the responsible Army Air Force detachment. They handed it over to the responsible Air Depot Group, which decided, that the wreckage is in a condition to be salvaged.
Is this possible ?
