Re: LW's Total Losses over Warsaw in IX 1939?

Quote:
2 Sept 1939 Wekusa 1 Luftflotte 1 He 111J-1 B7+BA shot down near Posen it did fly over Warsaw, 2 KIA and 2 POW later liberated by either ppr Wlodzmierz Gedymin 131 Eskadra or kpt Franciszek Jastrzebski 132 Eskadra
Thanks, but this plane could not be attributed to be destroyed over Warsaw by the Warsaw units (fighter or A/A) but by one of the pilots from Dywizjon "Poznański" (III/3 commander was mjr Mieczysław Mümler). It was very good unit, which fought almost to "the end", up to 16/17 IX 1939.

One small remark, in Polish we written ppor. pil. Włodzimierz Gedymin (ppor. is abbreviation of the word podporucznik pilot/lieutenant pilot)

The victor over He 111 was most probably Gedymin who shot down a weather reconnaissance aircraft Heinkel He 111. He hit him in a fuel tank caused a fire. Luftwaffe aircraft had crashed near the village Złotkowo.

BTW
see the Polish biography done by Franek Grabowski about Wodzimierz Gedymin
