you're right. Massimello and Apostolo in OSPREY's "Italian Aces of World War 2" (p85) deprive him of his acedom.
However, I'm looking for a real Italian Fiat G.50 ace. What about Livio Bassi ? Did he score all of his 6 kills in the G.50 ? And if so, is he the most successful Italian of that type ?
