57th FG, August 21h 1944
Hello,

I compare various sources to see more clearly about the 57th FG in 1944. The archives of Drôme (France) have a record of US aircraft missions in summer 44. There i read: "August 21h 1944: Ultimate strafing on Valence La Trésorerie airport by 10 P 47 FG 57th returning from an escort mission. 2 twin-engine aircrafts are claimed as damaged."
I own a copy of combat reports microfilms of the 57th and it is not registered ... What is the squadron responsible for this strafing?
