Thanks, Yes, I had noticed the (damaged) B-24 pics.

Story tells that serial and identification plates were changed. I gathered that the original 596 already had Turkish national symbols when flying out to Cyprus and Egypt by the US crew, so the "new" 596 had to be quickly painted like that too.

I wonder what the aircraft record card says of the real 41-11596....
