This photo also intrigued me a lot. I met a few months ago a person who was just a little girl when she witnessed the crash of a German plane in
"La Poulate" (Etoile-sur-Rhône) August 13, 1944. Unable to successfully identify this plane I went with her today at the scene. I took a panoramic photograph of the place. Currently the road has changed and is no longer possible to go precisely on the crash site. The picture I show you was taken 60 meters south of this location. Look closely: the relief of "Ardèche" mountains in the background. This is very similar. I questioned the fact that in August the trees should have leaves (in the picture there is not ...). She said that these trees (in 1944, no longer exist in 2016) had died because of the drought. What do you think ?
