Re: markings for Peter Duttmann Bf109G-14

Düttmann's Flugbuch for the period 5.Sept. 1943 (he notes his first time as a Schwarmführer) - 4.May 1945 does not list any entries as "Bf 109G-14," and it alternates between "Bf 109" and "Bf 109G", then "Bf 109G6" and... back to "Bf 109G". Werknummern are few, usually only the entry for a transfer flight. Once the Kennung is applied, he sticks with that. His 28.Jan. 1945 entry lists "Bf 109G10" 610538 (this one apparently became his final "schwarze 1"). By 16.March the type is listed as "Bf109g10U4" - a lot to squeeze into that narrow column.

In the course of all the usual assignments - free hunt, escort, low-level attack, alarmstarts, test and transfer flights, and being shot down so many times, he uses a variety of Kennummern, 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 14, etc., and sometimes is using machines from other than the 5. Staffel, so you may want to specify 'what and when.'

Hope this clarifies, GRM
