Fw 200 C-3 F8+KL 0061 of 3/JK40 broke up in mid-air and crashed by Amareleja Portugal, mission to convoy HS 65 . Ff Oblt Erich Westermann , 2 Ff Gef Gunter Kunert, Bf Ofw Gerhard Singer, 2 Bf Gef Erwin Hildenbrand, Bm Ofw Walter Reiser, Bs Uffz Fritz Grotstollen all killed The Jerry Scutts Condor book said it T/O from Bordeaux at 0214 hrs. and it exploded and crashed in flames 4km east of Amarelja at 0530 hrs. following possibly sending a message there were technical problems . The aircraft had suffered 20% damage on T/O on 21 May but it is believed this was not related to the crash,
