I´m impressed! Thank you all!
Today I visited the grave of Richard Himpel and it was in good condition.
My eyewitness told me, he saw a Fw 190 between two Mustangs on this day.
After hearing machine gun fire, he saw the german pilot bailing out in low altitude, but his parachute didn´t open completely...
One thing very interesting for me:
The answer of this witness about the type of US-aircrafts: "Definitly Mustangs!!! We could distinguish between Mustangs and Thunderbolts!"
In 1944 he was ten years old...
