According to 'Air War for Yugoslavia, Greece and Crete' (which I co-authored many moons ago), Makrocki's Bf110 was shot down by 300-ton coastal patrol vessel 'Syvern' in Suda Bay. 'Syvern' was damaged in the strafing attack and limped back into harbour with only two of her crew unwounded. Makrocki's observer/gunner on this occasion was Hptm Heinrich Eisgruber (aged 47) who was also killed.

One assumes that Eisgruber did not normally fly on operations. What do we know about him?
