Hi Mathias

After re-reading your post I see it would be for a fighter aircraft like a P-51D for example and the definitions would be correct as you mention them the "I" stands for IN-Board and the "O" for Out Board.
LIB is Left In Board and first gun closest to the fuselage / wing root, LOB Left Out Board is the first gun left of the first gun therefore making it a center gun and the last LOB is the last gun in the set to the far left. These examples above deal with the Left side of the aircraft ( Port Side)
