Form 540 1st of May 1945 - 222 Squadron

F/Lt R P Dahwood led a section of four on a weather recce but the weather prevented further operation. The section got 1 MT destroyed and 1 damaged SE of Flensburg where cloud was 4/10 and then returned to base. F/Lt J L Lawson made a forved landing a few miles west of Stade due to engine failure on the way back. Unfortunately he was two miles over the bombline but we sincerely hope he will have little difficulty in getting back without delay, His oil pressure went off the clock N of Rencsburg and he kept going tuntil the engine oversped, a few seconds later stopping completely. The countryside was flat and clear and he made an excellent belly landing.
