Re: Loss of B-17F 42-3212 379th BG 30 July 1943

B-17F 42-3212 crashed at 1110 hours on 30 July 1943 on a field 3/4 mile NE of Parham house, Parham, Suffolk. The aircraft was practically burnt out. All 10 crew members were killed. Local legend has it the B-17 was attempting to land at Parham but was 'waved off' due to a truck on the runway. The crippled aircraft crashed whilst pulling up to go around.
A propeller blade from this B-17 is on display in the 390BG MAM at Parham. A large chunk of the same aircraft was recently found near the crash site.

Bobgee - may I ask what your interest in this crash is?
