Re: RAF Malta 272 Squadron

Dear Sir
I am the nephew of Peter Charles Cobley who flew with 272 sqn in Malta. He survived the siege and left in Sept '43 when he was moved to 613 sqn for a secret operation planned to carry out a strategic bombing of The Kunstzaal Kleizkamp art gallery in the Hague building, in Holland. Many weeks of training were required to insure the accuracy of this attack. The Gestapo had brought together all of the identity papers of the Dutch citizens and were using this information to isolate resistance members. Their job was was destroy the building.

I have some information and a couple of pics from Malta but would love to gain any further one.

Sadly Peter was killed in Burma shortly after the war under very suspicious circumstances on the air field in Rangoon.

Regards
Ian Cobley
