Jochen Prien is on a distinguished road
I./JG 11 - 21 August 1944

Gentlemen,

on 21 August 1944 I./JG 11 reported the loss of two of its pilots - Uffz. Wittkowski and Gefr. Stelzer - both from 3rd Staffel without any additional information in the N.V.M. other than that they were buried at Meaux cemetry. The GQM Summary Loss Returns show two a/c lost in aerial combat on this date.

Since 21 August 1944 was a day of dismal weather over France and very iittle flying activity from the part of the allies I wonder whether anybody could enlighten me with respect to the details of said two losses - are there any allied claims that could match, had they fallen to A.A. fire or what else did happen to them ?
