A He 111 lost by Rethymnon
Hi,
I received recently this interesting pic of a destroyed He 111 during the battle of Crete, belonging to 6./K.G. 26. The plane landed on 20.05.41 safely by Rethymnon (Missiria) but soon was burned due to Australian fighters. The crew survived.

BF. Fw. Mathias Holle, BM. Uffz. Horst Funke, BS. Gfr. Heinz Winkler, alle (vw.) 20.05.41. Bruchlandung in Bissiria by Rethymno und durch Australisches Feuer vernichtet.
Near there the Australians destroyed a Ju 52 too by landing of paras
